Commit message format/hooks

Hi all,

first of all: I really like upsource. It give the review process in our company a new energy. Thank you.

My question is: Is there a certain syntax to achieve actions inside upsource by specifying some keywords in a commit message?

So far I have two.
1) Link to issue tracker.
2) Naming a review ID creates link.

What I am interested in is a way to add a commit to an existing review.
As with SVN there is no concept of a branch as all commits appear to be in the same baseline you have to add all revisions by hand.

Thank you.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your feedback.

Let’s discuss each request step by step

1.    Link to issue tracker.

Yes, you can configure issue tracker integration and wherever you mention Issue ID prefix, Upsource will  turn it into a hyperlink. E.g. You can mention “Fix PRJ-123” in the commit message and Upsource will create a hyperlink to this issue.

2.    Naming a review ID creates link.

This is not in the product yet, but we have some plans to rework UI in the next version of the product, so it might be included.

3.     A way to add a commit to an existing review

It’s already in the product, if you open any review you will see “add revision” button in the top right corner. Moreover, if you have a branch review, all new commits to this branch will be attached to this review automatically.

4.    As with SVN there is no concept of a branch as all commits appear to be in the same baseline you have to add all revisions by hand.

Unfortunately SVN branches are not supported in the current Upsource version, we do plan to add this feature in the next release. You can track the  progress and upvote it here - https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/UP-1797

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
