Inspections could not be calculated: a server-side exception occurred

I am trying to do code inspections on my gitlab repo which I was able to integrate into upsource. In the Code Inspection settings, it says for python3 code inspections to work; pip, virtualenv and python should be installed in the server. This is a local server and I have installed all three, but still the above error persists. I am not be to identify what the error message is: i.e. where the exception is arising? Would I have to setup smtp to get the error messages ???
